We’re proud to share that Waking Miss Winifred has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) through its Community Catalyst Building Remediation Program.
This funding represents a major milestone in our initiative and serves as the final piece needed to complete first-floor renovations at the historic Winifred Hotel. These renovations are a critical step in stabilizing and revitalizing the building - laying the groundwork for future phases of the project.
Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to host IEDA Director Debi Durham in Northwood, along with a gathering of local, regional, and state leaders. The visit allowed us to share our vision for the hotel’s restoration and its broader impact on the Northwood community.
The support and enthusiasm we’ve received at all levels have been instrumental in moving this project forward. We are incredibly grateful to IEDA for their investment in our mission and for recognizing the value of preserving this historic landmark.
As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue making visible progress and to bring new life to a space that has long been part of Northwood’s identity.
Stay tuned for more updates as work on the first floor moves forward - and thank you for believing in this journey with us.
